When the company first began, Morrow Snowboards was among the powerhouses in the industry. Their line employed fantastic, new technology to appeal to a wide snowboarding community. There were men’s, women’s, and children’s boards aplenty to choose from. And every one of those was guaranteed to rip it up.

Now, they offer a more, well, sedate lineup. While their snowboards are still crafted with care and attention to detail, they are no longer revolutionizing the industry. If you’re a newbie on the slopes, you might give Morrow some of your time–and maybe even your money–because their snowboards are still worthy for many riders.

Best Morrow Snowboards: Reviews of the Bestselling Brands

In the beginning, Morrow snowboards had a huge edge over a lot of the competition: a founder who was a champion snowboarder and was obsessed with making the perfect board.

Rob Morrow used to strip down every snowboard he could find to see just what made them tick.

Morrow Lithium Snowboard Review

This is both a freestyle and free-ride, all-terrain snowboard. The directional shape allows you to take it conservatively down the groomed slopes without a hitch, or jibbing over tables and scooping up jumps if you’d rather do that.

Of course, the Lithium isn’t the best board in the business, but it is a pretty fantastic choice if you’re a first timer.

What makes the Morrow Lithium snowboard stand out from other beginner snowboards is the 360 3D structural cap with provides added power and response, as well as the 360 edge protection for extra strength on the sides.

The die-cut base leaves a little to be desired in terms of speed and control, but if you’re a beginner, it will be more than suitable for all your needs.

Morrow Dream Snowboard Review

This women’s specific snowboard is a Dream for ladies looking to tear up the mountainside for their first time.

Everything about this board’s design was intended to make sure the ride is as absolutely smooth as possible in every condition.

It may not provide a lot of tricking opportunities in the park, it may not give you the necessary float to do the deep powder all day long, and it may not freestyle with the best of them, but you’ll have a safe, easy ride wherever you go.

And honestly, when you’re first starting out, that’s exactly what you want.

Morrow Lotus Snowboard Review

Whereas the Dream is a fairly easy-going board, made for stability and poise on the mountain, the Lotus is a more aggressive model that likes to carve its own path.

If you’re a beginner who likes to just get out there and see what happens, then the Lotus is made for you.

Alternately, since it’s such an aggressive board, you can ride the Lotus well into an intermediary skill level. Unlike other models, this is a Morrow snowboard that can grow with you.

This is a fairly durable snowboard that can take a beating, if you aim to give it one. Whether you like to try out new tricks in the park, zig-zag amongst the trees on the trails, or just freestyle it down a run, the Lotus will help you learn those first all-important lessons about balance, control, speed, and pop.

This is by no means the best women’s training board out there for more aggressive riders–take a look at the Burton Feather snowboard or Gnu B-Street BTX snowboard–but it’s definitely an affordable one.

Morrow Snowboards: Summary

Along with Liquid snowboards, Volkl Snowboards, and 5150 Snowboards, Morrow has been bought out by K2 Sports and used for their own purposes. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as they are at least still being sold, but it does mean that they aren’t given the amount of respect that they used to demand.

Today, these are really good beginner boards, but not much more. If you’re at a more advanced level, you should probably take your money elsewhere.

A Short History of Morrow Snowboards

The story of Morrow Snowboards is a sadly familiar one. Begun by Junior World Snowboarding Champion Rob Morrow in 1989, the company became a big hit in the early to mid 1990′s with its progressive sticks and adapted technologies.

When sales began to decline in the late 90′s, it was sold off to K2 snowboards and has been relegated to the category of cheap, beginner snowboarders. It was a fall from grace, for sure, but at least Morrow snowboards are still being sold today, and by one of the world’s leading manufacturers of winter sports equipment, too.
