A K2 snowboard is one of the best snowboards money can buy. OutdoorEquipment.com experts review the best K2 snowboards, including Fastplant, Moment & more!
From a company that is legendary in the field of winter sports, the K2 snowboard is, in its own right, a contender for the top plank in the industry.
Although Burton snowboards are still considered to be the best in the world, the products made and sold by K2 aren’t far behind in terms of quality, variety, and technological advancements. In fact, you could say that they are sniffing at the bindings of Burton’s top spot.
Best K2 Snowboards: Reviews of the Bestselling Models
Even though K2 is primarily known as a ski manufacturer, their line of snowboards is among the best in the world. With nearly three dozen models to choose from, there’s no chance you’ll leave the store or website empty-handed–there’s something for absolutely everyone in the K2 catalog.
But how do you go into the store or website and find your perfect model? Well, fortunately for you, there are ways to narrow down your search:
- Gender – Men’s, Women’s, Boys’, or Girls’
- Width – Regular or Wide
- Baseline – Flatline, Catch-Free Rocker, Job Rocker, All-Terrain Rocker, or Powder Rocker
But even then, you may find yourself scratching your head over which board is the best for your needs. Well, don’t fret! Below, we’ve listed three of K2′s bestselling snowboards and trust us when we say this: The Ray Gun, Fastplant, and Moment boards are among the best in the business.
These snowboards are fast, fun, and rock all over the mountain. You can kick it in the park with the Fastplant, cruise the backcountry or groomers with the Ray Gun, or develop your skills with the Moment. Each has its own unique advantages that will enchant you in different ways.
K2 Ray Gun Snowboard Review
If you’re looking for an all-mountain snowboard that is just as snappy in the backcountry as it is in the park, take a gander at the K2 Ray Gun snowboard.
The shape of the board itself, directional with an all-terrain rocker, lets you turn on a dime on just about any surface, be it packed powder, groomers, deep pow-pow, or crud. It also affords you plenty of tail pop, great float, and powerful control over your maneuvers.
The core of the Ray Gun is made from flexible pure wood, giving it great durability and a fair amount of forgiveness. If you’re a rider looking to take your skills to the next level, the Ray Gun is a wonderful teacher.
While the K2 Believer snowboard is slightly more suited for the backcountry, nothing beats the all-mountain madness of the Ray Gun.

K2 Fastplant Snowboard Review
Itching to tear up the park? Then check out K2′s Fastplant snowboard. This super versatile, incredibly lightweight snowboard was inspired by the architecture of the skateboard to give you the most play for tricks.
The Fastplant is designed with a jib rocker, giving it just a little rise on the tip and tail. This helps avoid edge-hooking while still making sure you have the pop necessary to show off right.
The core of the Fastplant, unlike the wood of so many other models–Burton’s included–is bamboo, making it an ultra lightweight and controllable snowboard.
And aside from the performance aspects, the Fastplant also has some uniquely awesome features. One of which is the original artwork drawn by Don Pendleton.

K2 Moment Snowboard Review
The Moment is one of the most affordable woman’s snowboards and is as easy to ride as it is on your wallet.
This can be considered a beginner or learning board, but that doesn’t mean the intermediates should turn their noses up at it. With a Catch-Free Rocker baseline and Dual Progressive sidecut, the Moment is a forgiving, effortless snowboard that will have you carving down the mountain like a pro in no time.
You can ride the K2 Moment snowboard from beginner to an advanced level, meaning one board for many years.
Another great feature of the Moment is the extruded base. This is a tough and quick design that can be quickly and easily tuned and adjusted. That means you don’t have to waste time messing with your board that could be better spent cruising down the mountain.
It may not be as advanced or forgiving as the Burton Feather snowboard, but the Moment is as fun a board as there ever was for beginner-to-intermediate women riders.

The story behind the inception of K2 snowboards is as dramatic as the original American Dream. From humble beginnings, the company was nurtured by a pair of brothers until it became the world class brand name it is today.
K2 gets its name from a couple of different places: the world’s second biggest mountain and the two brothers who started it all, Bill and Don Kirschner. In 1961, Bill borrowed a pair of skis and experimented by creating similar ones from fiberglass. The result was a super lightweight design that offered unbeatable control. From there, the company took off. It wasn’t long before they expanded their operation, and in the mid-80′s their snowboard line was conceived.
