K2 Snowboards began in the 1960′s, when a kid named Bill Kirschner borrowed a pair of skis and attempted to reconstruct them using fiberglass. He succeeded, creating a rudimentary lightweight pair of snow skis.
From there, he and his brother Don developed a love for winter sports and began crafting some of the world’s finest ski and snowboard equipment and gear. The company is named after the brothers Kirschner, but also after the world’s second largest peak, making it obvious that this is a company serious about big mountain sports.
